Praise & Worship Team: This group welcomes people of all ages who play musical instruments, like to sing, or are willing to help in any capacity to lead others in lively worship through music and song. For details, contact the Parish Office. Music Ministries: Under the direction of the Parish Music Minister, this group involves the English choir, Polish choir and Cantors who lead the community in song during our liturgical celebrations. Practices are held Thursday evenings in church. For information, please contract the parish office. Catechetical Formation Ministries: RCIA Team & Sponsors: This group is comprised of dedicated individuals who feel called to assist in the spiritual formation of others by sharing their own faith. The RCIA team and sponsors introduce the catechumens and candidates to parish life, and help them to understand who we are as Catholic Christians. The team and sponsors attend the Liturgy of the Word with the catechumens each Sunday, and meet with them following dismissal to further discuss what was just proclaimed. Catechetical Formation Program: This program (CCD, Religious Education) exists to support parents in instructing and guiding their children in all areas relating to our Catholic faith. Dedicated volunteers are always needed to act as catechists, aides, hall monitors, etc. Formation classes take place each Sunday from 8:30-9:45 am in Sacred Heart School. Youth Ministry: This group, open to young men and women grades 7 and up, meets on two Saturdays per month following the 4:30 pm Mass to reflect on our faith and discuss the application of it in the lives of teens and pre-teens. The group plans and facilitates the parish retreat for confirmandi, and participates in and plans spiritual and recreational activities on a parish and diocesan level. For further information please contact Susan Lang. Other Parish Organizations & Groups Parish Prayer Line: This ministry provides a network of support for all who are in need of prayer. There are no meetings to attend, but a telephone is necessary. Our parish prayer chain members must be open to God, be willing to pray and be respectful of privacy. To join, please call 721-5050 and follow the recorded details. Altar Rosary Society: This organization of parish women supports parish endeavors and functions and promotes prayer to the Blessed Mother through rosary. Meetings are held the first Monday of each month at 7:00 pm in Memorial Hall. Please call the parish offices for further information. Holy Name Society: This organization of parish men promotes the sacredness of the name of Jesus Christ and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. All are welcome to join in Nocturnal Adoration with the HNS on the First Saturday of each month at St. Bart's in East Brunswick (time rotates monthly and is listed in the parish bulletin). Details on joining the Society can be obtained by calling the parish offices. St. Vincent DePaul Society: This organization assists the less fortunate of our community by providing food, shelter, clothing, etc. for those in need. Monthly food drives are held to replenish the local food bank. Please contact the office if you would like to assist in this manner. Catholic War Veterans: This group is open to all people who have served in the United States armed services. Our Veterans come together on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm to share their experiences, pray and discuss issues and events involving veterans. Sacred Heart Council of Catholic Women: The SHCCW is open to Catholic women of all ages who wish to actively respond to the needs of the church and society. The SHCCW undertakes activities at the parish, diocesan and national levels; recent projects include blanket drives for the homeless, distribution of Christmas gifts and Easter baskets to families in need, coat drive for a local women's shelter, collection of religious articles for mission parishes, and rallying local and state representatives to vote in favor of pro-life legislation. Women who wish to participate are invited to meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm. Please contact the parish office for further information on joining. Senior Citizens: This organization plans and sponsors recreational and social activities for the senior members of our community. Meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 11:30 am in Memorial Hall to plan trips and to provide information which specifically concerns senior citizens.
